A Little About Me

Hello, I’m Jessica, the writer behind The Unhurried Annotation. This is the space where I share reflections on Scripture, books I’m currently reading, and whatever else feels worth gathering here. Expect the occasional photo of my dog, Lily, too.

I live in South Jersey with my husband, Mike, and the aforementioned Lily. By day, I work as a bookkeeper for Mission Teens, a Christian discipleship program that helps people facing life-controlling issues such as addiction. I also serve as a Bible teacher at the Mission Teens location near Vineland, NJ.

I’ll be starting seminary in the fall of 2026, so I’ll probably write about that too. When I’m not studying Scripture or reading, you can usually find me sewing bags and quilts, or playing with Lily.

The Story

Why this space exists

I started The Unhurried Annotation as a place to reflect on and share what I’m learning through the Bible and the books I read. I love to dive into a single passage of Scripture or word study and spend time there. I also love sharing what I’m learning and encouraging others.

But I’ve noticed how easy it is to feel pressure to read just to meet a goal or tick off a checklist. I keep finding myself wanting to reflect on what I’ve read before jumping to the next thing.

So this is that space. No regular posting schedule, no reading goals. Just sharing as I go.
